THANK THE LORD FOR KEURIG

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

When I wake up, I try to always start the morning with a little God time. On the top of the thankful list today were my sweet friends...and coffee. You see, last year I gave up caffeine- not technically, but I made a little pact to myself that every time I would normally order a pop or a coffee, I'd substitute it by ordering a water. I'm the kind of girl who, when i go out to eat, will drink refill after refill simply because I'm just not paying attention- so my whole deal worked out pretty great...until this semester started. Early mornings + late nights, I'll be the first to admit, are not my thing. I feel like the cliche college student- addicted to coffee, but kind of poor ($4.23 every day at the cafe isn't very realistic!). but today i fueled my own obsession with our new Keurig!

So, thank you God, for great friends (who have Keurigs...)!

How to make iced coffee with a Keurig:

Be sure to use the strongest/darkest kcup you can find! i used the cafe verona dark blend from starbucks (available at target, too!). Because the milk will dilute, a medium blend won't work well.

After making, refrigerate for at least 1 hour. If the coffee is hot, or at most warm, it will melt the ice- which kind of defeats your purpose, huh?

Once your coffee is nice and chilled, fill glass full with ice, then fill about 1/3 with milk (or more if you'd like-  just be sure to leave room for the coffee).

I added a splash of vanilla latte syrup and a paper straw, because everything tastes better out of a cute straw, right?

    9. Oh my goodness, I love your blog!!! I just found you through Dusty Window Panes and I'm soo happy I did.

I think it's safe to say that I also share in your love for coffee in a capsule. Have you ever heard of Nespresso??? It's like a Keurig but even better! Hard to imagine, right?!? I do love Keurig too =) I also love your straws, I have the same ones!

I'm your newest follower and am looking forward to more posts.

    10. I just wanted to stop by and say that I caved and finally got a Keurig, because my husband wouldn't shut up about getting one. And I told him he better not waste our money, because he likes to buy things and then not use them. I think I got the same one you did, from the looks of it. And, I have to admit, I love it! I better, since it cost $150, not including all the extra K cups we had to buy?! Oh my goodness! -Jessica L
